Job Description

Ultra Electronics Airport Systems require a delivery focused IT Procurement Manager to support global projects in all areas of spend based in Manchester.

Our client is looking to appoint a proven IT Procurement Manager based in the Manchester region. The role will integrate into the organisation, generating strong relationships with the Engineering, Project Management, and Commercial stakeholders. Responsibilities will begin at the pre-contract stage and will take a life cycle approach through to project completion. The IT Procurement manager will:

• Ensure the business has a cohesive procurement strategy that links in with the expectations of key stakeholders as the organisation grows. This will involve presenting the value of procurement to a highly technical, project orientated audience.
• Demonstrate a high level of contract knowledge, highlighting, and mitigating risks to the organisation.
• Develop the current procurement team to increase the department impact within the business.
• Foster strong relationships with key suppliers primarily from IT software, hardware or telecommunications based businesses working closely with them and taking joint benefit on the introduction of new technologies. This will require the coordination across the business and effectively account manage suppliers for the organisation.
• Manage a spend covering both IT (software and hardware) and subcontract services for global projects.

The ideal candidate will be of degree calibre and MCIPS Qualified (or working towards), with current exposure within a project orientated IT systems integration environment. You will need to demonstrate competent contract knowledge in both IT product and service forms of agreement. Experience of mentoring and managing a team will be key to developing the function and supporting the business as it continues to grow. It would be a distinct benefit to bring current programme management capability developed in a heavily procurement orientated role. The ideal approach will be to combine a strategic capability with the skills to adopt a hands on style in the implementation for both project support and general systems/ process improvements.
