Sales rise for Norbert

Norbert Dentressangle has reported a 4.1 per cent rise in sales for the first nine month driven by growth in the transport division.

Consolidated revenue totalled 2,113m euros and the group said improvements were seen in all European countries where Norbert Dentressangle operated.

Transport revenue came to 1,226m euros, up 6.9 per cent versus the first nine months of 2009, with a slight slowing versus H1 2010.

In the first nine months of 2010, logistics revenue amounted to 918m euros, down 0.4 per cent on last year, but up steadily on sequential quarterly basis.

The freight forwarding business, launched at the beginning of the year, continued to grow steadily, generating revenue of 4m euros in the first nine months of 2010.

The group said the acquisition of the freight forwarding activities of US-based Schneider Logistics International is continuing according to schedule and is expected to be completed in the coming days.

Chief executive François Bertreau said: “We are encouraged by the performance of our transport business in the UK which shows improvement. Our UK logistics business continues to perform well, with a number of new contracts in both ambient and temperature controlled logistics.”
