Palletways is investing 5 million euros to launch a domestic pallet network Germany.
Operations are due to start in early May, and will be based at a 7,000 sq metre hub at Homberg in Germany. This will have capacity for up to 6,000 pallets per night and the network will start with some 35 depots across Germany.
Together with the commercial offices in Dusseldorf, there will be 30 employees, managing customer services, hub operations and transport management of the network.
The German network will be integrated with the company’s pan-European IT infrastructure, enabling a Europe-wide delivery service.
Palletways chief James Wilson said: “Our significant investment in creating a domestic network in Germany will enable us to exploit business opportunities in Europe’s largest economy. Germany is also the world’s second biggest exporter after China…
“Our strategically placed hub in central Germany, will also enable us to provide future express delivery services in Eastern Europe, opening up new marketplaces and additional revenues for the Group.”
