Pamela Nash, Labour MP for Airdrie and Shotts, has visited the Co-operative’s regional distribution centre in Newhouse to learn more about the investment in the site.
The 500,000 sq ft multi-temperature depot is now ramping up after opening in February 2011. It will be fully operational by the end of the year, following a capital investment of £25 million.
Nash said: “I am proud to have this new hi-tech facility in our constituency, serving shops throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland, and providing much needed secure jobs at a time of economic uncertainty.”
