Retailer Go Outdoors has appointed Advanced Supply Chain to manage warehousing and UK distribution to its retail Stores.
Stuart Whitaker, head of logistics at Go Outdoors, said: “Go Outdoors has an ambitious growth strategy with plans to more than double the current number of stores over the next few years. To ensure these stores are correctly stocked we have chosen an equally ambitious distribution partner.”
“We have to make sure the right goods are at the right Go Outdoors store at the right time. To achieve this we will, in conjunction with the Advanced systems specialists, be improving our supply chain performance through considerable investment in bespoke IT warehousing and distribution programmes specifically designed to facilitate reduced lead times, full audit trail visibility and lower operating costs.
The three year contract will see Bradford-based Advanced invest more than £5 million in its warehouse in Corby.
“Advanced will also be developing a nominated carrier scheme on our behalf, offering our supply base the opportunity to benefit from controlled, consolidated collections which we believe will improve both service and cost,” said Whitaker.
Mike Danby, chief executive Advanced Supply Chain, said: ““The Go Outdoors business will further assist the Advanced strategy of establishing a strong operating base in the Midlands, which will enable plans to offer cost effective, nationwide, warehousing and distribution facilities to all UK businesses irrespective of location”.
