Waitrose set to submit warehouse plans in Croydon

Waitrose is poised to submit plans for its latest warehouse in Coulsdon, Croydon. The retailer is looking to develop a 79,654 sq ft dark store on a site in the Ullswater Industrial Estate in Coulsdon.

The warehouse would serve online customers and could provide jobs for up to 500 people, although Waitrose says the site is just one of a number it is considering including a site in Crawley and one in Erith.

Pre-plan proposals put forward by Indigo Planning  included a single distribution facility with 155 parking spaces 171 van parking spaces and 25 lorry loading bays. Staff would arrive for three shifts each day, starting at 6am, 2pm and 10pm.

Developers are expected to take into account the planning committee’s suggestions before submitting a planning application.
