Sales rise at Gefco

Gefco saw sales rise 12.9 per cent last year to 3.8bn euros while operating profit was a record 223m euros.

The automotive logistics specialist, which is part of PSA Peugeot Citroën, said sales to customers outside the PSA group rose 19.2 per cent to 1.45bn euros.

In February, PSA Peugeot Citroën announced that it was exploring the option for opening up Gefco’s capital for sale.

It is targeting growth internationally as well as in its three strategic business areas: outbound automotive logistics, inbound overland logistics and overseas logistics.

It opened new subsidiaries in Bulgaria and Kazakhstan and bought a 70 per cent stake in Gruppo Mercurio, an Italian automotive logistics specialist. It saw 15 per cent growth in South America and a 25 per cent increase in central and eastern Europe.
