Midlands RDC snapped up

PTS Plumbing Trade Supplies, a leading distributor in the heating and plumbing market, has invested £1.4M in a new 9,300sq m distribution centre in the heart of the West Midlands and the UK’s transport network. The development supports PTS’ growing network of branches which is set to top 200 outlets this Spring.

The new distribution centre will double the capacity of PTS’ logistics network. These increased capabilities will enable PTS to meet growing demand from customers for its comprehensive range of heating, plumbing and bathroom products and facilitate future branch expansion plans.

Neil Allan, logistics director for PTS, says: “We are already able to make next-day deliveries to any of our branches – from Aberdeen to Plymouth – with 80% of branches receiving deliveries before 12 noon. The decision to make this major investment in our Midlands regional distribution centre was taken after a review of our current and future logistics needs and these developments will provide the tools to enable PTS to continue to expand and serve our customers to the very highest standards.”

The existing regional distribution centre at Aston, Birmingham will be retained as a specialist distribution centre for large contracts.

PTS has selected the J6 development at Witton off the M6 for the new distribution centre. Designed by renowned British architect practice Wallis Gilbert & Partners, the six acre site includes a Grade 2 listed office building, extensive warehousing and office space.
