Richard Turner, retiring chief executive of the Freight Transport Association, has been awarded an OBE for services to transport in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for 2007. Turner joined FTA in 1973 becoming chief executive in 2001.

Philip Brown has joined NYK as business unit director, where he’ll be responsible for the company’s international business, primarily in the retail and healthcare sectors.

Kevin Buchanan has been promoted to the plc board at Palletline where he’ll take over from Glyn Jones as managing director. The network has also chosen Mark Pulford for operations director and Shane Chamberlain for deputy night hub manager.

Seafield Logistics has appointed Lynton Morgan site manager in readiness for the completion of the first phase of its site redevelopment at Aylesham.

Atchison Topeka has appointed Luci O’Connor commercial manager. She has more than 20 years logistics experience, working at both TDG and Culina Logistics.

Hans-Peter Nüdling has been appointed chief executive of DLoG. He has extensive international experience in sales and entrepreneurial tasks and will work alongside managing director Dr Kramer.

Pall-Ex has appointed Fraser MacNeil director of operations. He has 20 years experience in transport and distribution, more recently specialising in the pallet freight sector.

Woodlands USA has recruited Martin Barajas as branch manager for its Los Angeles office, while Paula Slaughter joins in an operational role for air exports and Hector Perez as named account coordinator of its ocean exports sector.

Luis Olivie Martinez-Penalver has become chief operations officer at Achilles. He first joined the company in 1997 as general manager for Spain and Portugal. Carmen Molina Cerez has been promoted to director of sales and marketing.
