International chemical manufacturer Brunner Mond has extended its relationship with Ken Thomas Logistics, a Seafield Logistics company, after signing a three year distribution and warehousing deal.

Under the contract both warehousing and distribution services at the company’s headquarters in Northwich will increase.

The operation is being completely overhauled with the warehouse facilities seeing a number of upgrades, including the implementation of a new warehousing system, which will increase storage by 50 per cent to 46,836 sq ft.

It has been specially designed for Brunner Mond’s Sodium Bicarbonate product and has been set up to handle an extended range of graded product.

First Investments will be lining the walls of the warehouse with a flame retardant polymeric coasted textile, designed to create a self-contained and pristinely clean environment for the product.

Craig Evans, Seafield Logistics’ general manager for Brunner Mond said: “The advantage of using material rather than building a fixed structure is a flexible warehousing solution which brings with it considerable cost savings.”

First Investments is also carrying out internal upgrading of the warehouse floors and installing a new lighting system, as well as externally improving the operating space for HGV/vehicle parking, loading and unloading.
