FedEx Express has released the first set of results from an on-road field trial using ten hybrid diesel-electric Dailys from Iveco.
During the trial, which began six months ago and will continue through to May 2010, each van covered an average of 7,900 km (4,909 m), with a 26.5 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and a total reduction of 7.5 tonnes in carbon dioxide emissions when compared to a fleet of traditional vans.
The findings are said to be a result of the featured control systems and functions such as the stop-and-start feature, which enables the van to start in electric mode and brake with energy recovery.
