Gigaset Communications has appointed Kuehne + Nagel to manage its national distribution centre in Shanghai.

K+N will also be responsible for domestic warehousing and distribution services for the entire range of Siemens-Gigaset-branded cordless phone products in the Chinese sales market.

K+N originally signed a contract with Gigaset predecessor company Siemens Home & Office Communication Devices in 2006.

The operation will be run from K+N’s shared facility in the Baoshan district of Shanghai. It will be in charge of unloading and inspecting shipments from Germany, storage, order picking, dispatch preparation and national distribution to more than 100 destinations across the country.

Additionally, the agreement includes central management of spare parts for nationwide returns and repairs, as well as tracking and tracing products.

Jens Drewes, national manager of K+N in central and northern China, said: “By incorporating all the above mentioned services in K+N’s logistics platform, the partnership will continue to significantly optimise Gigaset’s overall supply chain and  upkeep its flexibility essential in today’s dynamic market.”
