Nene fits out DC for clothing company

Nene has fitted out a 107,000 sq ft distribution centre for BTC Activewear with storage for 10,000 pallets.
The site, Opus 9 at Junction 9 on the M6, has three separate zones that maximise the space available with beam lengths and weight loadings calculated to suit each category of product.
Some 5,700 beams of varying dimensions and weight have been installed as part of the storage system together with anti-collapse mesh and picking bins.
In the centre is a bulk picking area, which accommodates the fast moving, high volume lines. Picking is carried out at ground and first floor level with items being transferred for consolidation and despatch by a conveyor that runs along the front of the racked area.
At the side of the bulk picking area is a very narrow aisle high bay-picking zone, which Nene designed for optimum high-density storage.
The third racked area is located on the opposite side of the high throughput central area. It comprises of three and four level floor picking with pallet storage above.
BTC is able to carry enlarged stock levels of clothing and workwear brands, which it supplies to printers, embroiderers, promotional gift suppliers and corporate customers.
