ByBox has developed a supply chain strategy that can help customers meet their responsibilities under the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulations, which came into force earlier this year. The directive aims to improve the environmental performance of all operators involved in the life cycle of such equipment, whether manufacturers, distributors, sellers or users.
In the case of IT and telecommunications equipment, for example, the WEEE rate of recovery has to be increased to a minimum of 75% and component, material and substance reuse and recycling increased to a minimum of 65%.
The in-night distribution service has designed the system flexibly, so that its core service can be adapted and integrated into any supply chain. It will provide full visibility and traceability over movement of all parts and equipment that now falls within the WEEE legislation.
“In essence what we have created is a highly flexible new labelling system linked to an efficient track and trace capability that is inserted into the existing supply chain,” says Stuart Miller, chief executive of ByBox.
