FedEx UK has opened a facility in Exeter, doubling its capacity in the South West, as demand grows in the region.

The 17,000 sq ft site is located in the Greendale Business Park in Woodbury Salterton, and has been designed to help the company reduce delivery times by up to one and half hours.

It will handle packages for domestic and international customers from the site, which has the capacity to sort 500 packages per hour using a 70m conveyor belt system.

The hub has been adapted to allow vehicles to load from any of the 13 double-shutter doors at the front and side of the building.

Trevor Hoyle, managing director of operations at FedEx UK, said: “Our investment in Exeter means a faster and more flexible service for local businesses and ensures they continue to benefit from connection to the global economy.”
