Andyfreight reckons it is getting an eight per cent improvement in fuel consumption from its new Mercedes Benz Actros trucks compared to the vehicles they replaced.

The six trucks are 2545 models with StreamSpace cabs, and 450hp engines mated to Mercedes PowerShift 3 automated transmissions. They are averaging 9.3mpg on general haulage work.

Managing director Andy Pountney said: “Over the course of a full year it is going to save us up to £5,000 per unit in diesel costs.”

The New Actros trucks were supplied by Rygor Commercials of Kidderminster.
