IAG Group has launched IAG Cargo as a single brand for air cargo unifying its British Airways, Iberia and bmi businesses.
The move follows months of work to integrate the cargo operations of the businesses into a single unit with a unified product range, sales force and IT systems.
Branding it all IAG is designed to support new cargo entrants to the International Airlines Group alongside British Airways, Iberia and bmi.
The IAG Cargo operation had a turnover of €1,190 million in 2011, and has a workforce of more than 2,700 people covering a global network serving more than 350 destinations making it one of the largest air cargo networks in the world.
Steve Gunning, managing director of IAG Cargo, said: “The launch of our brand is an important milestone in our aim of becoming the world’s leading air cargo network.
“For IAG Cargo, uniting our business under this single brand will help us to scale up as new carriers are brought under our banner, while creating a powerful identity that our customers will be able to relate to.”
In short, it will make it easier than ever to do business with us and help us become even more competitive.”
A considerable amount of work has gone into the development of the network. Hubs in London and Madrid are at the core of the network linked by several flights a day. Iberia’s strength in Latin America has complemented BA’s strength in North America, Africa and Asia.
The aim is that IAG Cargo will become the principal cargo brand for the group, although BA World Cargo and Iberia Cargo will be retained as they have strong recognition in particular markets.
J Ignacio Díez Barturan, deputy managing director of IAG Cargo, added: “Since we merged a year ago, we have invested heavily in creating one of the most extensive networks, while also working to integrate our product portfolios.
“The launch of IAG Cargo as a single commercial platform was the next logical step. From today customers across the world will benefit from a premium and unified service delivered through easy to access channels such as iagcargo.com.”
