The Co-operative has installed a rainwater harvesting system by Stormsaver at its new distribution centre in Newcastle, helping the company to save around £18,000 per year.
Stormsavers will deliver three systems to the site. The first features two 45,000 litre tanks, the second has a 25,000 litre tank and the third uses a 20,000 litre tank.
The recycled water will be used to flush toilets, fuel the refrigeration system and in vehicle washing equipment.
