Warehouse sector leads record growth

Linde expects the UK materials handling market to reach the 33,000 unit mark this year. And sales and marketing director Stephen Moule predicts that production for 2005 at Linde’s Basingstoke plant will be 9,000 units.

Moule says 2004 was a record year in the UK with the market accounting for more than 32,000 units. Major orders received by Linde in the UK last year included RHM, BMW, Land Rover, J Sainsbury and Exel He expects the trend to continue this year with the warehouse sector, and diesel counterbalance models in particular, “driving the growth”. And he adds that contract management has been fundamental in Linde winning new business, and especially the RHM deal for 1,000-plus trucks.
