Plans for a 93,000sq m unit at its premier distribution development at Cabot Park in Bristol have been unveiled by Burford Group. The “Hypersite” will be the first of its kind in the region offering cross docking, 18m eaves, 24/7 use, rail connection and access to port facilities.
Hypersite will cover the entire Merebank phase on Cabot Park, which has existing planning consent for close to 93,000sq m. It will offer a unique product in the region and an opportunity for pan-European logistics companies to operate a trimodal facility of 93,000sq m in the UK.
Mike Forster, director of Burford Group, comments: “We’re extremely excited about being able to offer the prospect of Hypersite. Some of the major pan-European retailers and logistics operators have identified the business benefits of consolidating operations within a supershed because of the economies of scale. With only a small number of sites in the country capable of offering a facility of this size, I believe this is an attractive proposition. Few, if any of the others can readily offer trimodal capability.”
He continues: “Cabot Park’s location next to Avonmouth Port, which will benefit from the anticipated increase freight movement by short sea coastal shipping, coupled with road and rail links, positions Hypersite as an obvious candidate for trans-Continental occupiers.”
