Increased payload offers cost saving

Refrigerated body manufacturer Reep has delivered two new refrigerated vehicles to Parripak Foods, one of the UK’s fastest growing vegetable and garlic processors. The vehicles are a 28ft, 26-tonne Volvo FM9 6×2 day chassis cab fitted with a Thermo King TS500 refrigeration unit, and a 23ft body on an 18-tonne Daf LF55 day cab with a Thermo King V 700 refrigeration unit.

Reep fitted the insulated trailers with one piece five-bar aluminium tread plate floors with fully welded seams to prevent ingress of onion juices – the acid from which is extremely corrosive. An internal side scuff rail was also fitted to protect the inner body panels from damage.

Parripak’s logistics manager, Ken Bianchi, comments: “Our decision to award the contract to Reep was made for two distinct reasons: the quality of Reep’s product was superior to any other we looked at and their specifications increased the overall payload of the two vehicles by three tonnes, which translates into a significant cost saving for Parripak over three to five years”.
