Drinks firm toasts adaptable deliveries

Amtrak Express Parcels has strengthened its hold on the wine delivery market after winning contracts to deliver wine for Laithwaites, the Sunday Times Wine Club, and other branded wine outlets.

Using WineTrak, Amtrak’s handle-with-care service for wine, consignments are routed through a purpose built distribution hub for overnight sorting prior to delivery across the country.

Following their success of wine deliveries for Virgin Wines, the latest Amtrak contract is with Direct Wines, one of the world’s largest independent wine specialists which runs the Sunday Times Wine Club and Laithwaites brands.

Direct Wines stocks 3,000 types of wine that Amtrak will be collecting from warehouses in Reading and Derby.

Amtrak handle consignments of typically 12-bottle cases being delivered to the door next-day.

Direct Wines favoured Amtrak’s specialist home delivery services to boost services with greater flexibility including unattended, evening and Saturday deliveries.

With unattended deliveries, the wine is left in a safe place agreed by the customer.
