Major plans for eastern England

Haven Gateway Partnership’s target to achieve an increase of nearly 50,000 more jobs in the East of England by 2021 is not a pipe dream, according to its chairman George Courtauld. “We already have the natural resources, including possibly the finest harbourage in North Europe,” he says.

“The fourth year of the Haven Gateway Partnership sees us well on course in furthering our four priorities of promoting the five ports and the associated logistics, attracting investment, economic regeneration and improving quality of life.”

Courtauld says a submission for Growth Point Status will be sent to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and, if successful, it will concentrate on existing areas of growth activity within the Haven Gateway and look to focus on Ipswich, Colchester and the Harwich / Felixstowe port complexes.

“Our five ports remain dominant in marketing our image and central to our business concerns.”
