Internet tracking improves productivity

Cannon Consumables, formerly Cannon Hygiene’s Disposables Division, has updated its vehicle tracking system in a move to improve productivity and customer service. To aid drivers and customers Cannon has installed its new Internet-based vehicle tracking system, designed and manufactured by Quartix.

Backed up by the Orange network, the system provides real-time information accessible online, and a full log of vehicle activity is delivered by email every morning. As it is Internet-based there is no special software to install, and data is supplied in either HTML or Microsoft Excel format.

Cannon also sees the commercial benefits of using Quartix’s industry-leading system as a key part in its future pricing strategy – the system will plan out routes, mileage and fuel usage – expecting to help mitigate the rising fuel prices and ensuring costs remain competitive.

Oliver Weisflog, managing director of Cannon, says: “I believe Cannon’s move to introduce this system in line with the new Working Time Regulations is an important step forward in the industry. Cannon employs many drivers to deliver products and services and we need to be confident that they are being looked after by the company as well as the law.”
