Keeping a tag on goods in transit

Secureseal has a new system to manage trailer assets and prevent the theft of goods in transit. The intelligent system transmits trailer door seal information automatically before a vehicle passes a gatehouse, with status sent to a gatehouse PC or any remote PC via the web.

Called Secureseal System, it uses radio frequency transmitters with a range of up to 300m and eight-year battery life.

According to the company, the system is linked to software at the gatehouse, and provides data automatically as the trailer passes through the gate including the trailer identification number, security seal number, the condition of the seal either open or closed, together with the date and time the trailer arrived and departed from the depot.

With data recorded automatically, operators can build up a picture of how efficiently their trailers are being used. A full range of management reports is available within the software suite, says the company.
