Managing director of Palletways, Craig Hibbert, says in addition to track and trace technology, the company has also introduced a web-based consignment order entry system. Customers simply access the Cyberstation on the internet and enter their consignment data, including the number of physical units to be distributed, the address of their customer, the type of express service required and any timed deliveries. The system then combines this data with details of the relevant depot and hub operation through which the goods pass to their final delivery point. The consignment and delivery information, along with a unique barcode for track and trace purposes, are then printed onto the label.
Cyberstation pre-populates locations where customers make regular deliveries, saving time on re-entering information. The technology also enables customers to create reports on all their consignment deliveries, analysing the data via the network.
