Häfele UK, the supplier of furniture fittings and architectural ironmongery, has awarded Jungheinrich a £1.6 million contract to supply an integrated mini-load and order consolidation system for its UK distribution centre at Rugby.
The order is the latest phase in the development of an automated operation at the distribution centre – a project for which Jungheinrich UK’s Systems & Projects Division has been partner for ten years.
The latest part of the system comprises two mini-load cranes, a complex conveyor system and a material flow controller. Part-picked orders are conveyed to the consolidation area from various picking zones and storage areas around the facility.
The order item lines are then collated into customer orders ready for dispatch using a reverse pick-to-light system. The completed orders are then automatically transported to the packing and dispatch area, from where they are shipped.
