DAF Trucks has supplied Martin Brower, the UK logistics provider for McDonald’s, with the last of five Euro-6 CF ‘silent’ rigids. Martin Brower purchased the trucks for the delivery of 62 million cases worth of McDonald’s frozen, chilled and dry good products.
Over 700 Co-op drivers are to vote on a package of proposals to settle the dispute over the outsourcing of jobs to Eddie Stobart. Unite has recommended that its members take the offer – results will be revealed after the Easter holiday.
A scheduled strike by Co-op drivers over the planned transfer of 87 drivers to Eddie Stobart has been suspended for ‘meaningful’ talks with ACAS. The strike was arranged to take place for 48 hours from 00.01 on Monday 21st March, and was to be accompanied by a continuous work to rule.
Frozen food retailer Iceland has awarded a five-year warehousing and distribution contract to XPO Logistics that will include both dedicated and shared user facilities.
Delivery company Hermes’ Click and Collect service, ‘Parcelshop’, will soon be available in 450 Co-operative stores across the UK. Hermes and the Co-op will ‘strategically choose’ which outlets they will offer the services to based on a range of criteria, including: location, consumer demand and opening hours.
