IDI Gazeley has applied for planning permission to build a one million square foot distribution centre for DHL Supply Chain at Magna Park in Leicestershire.

The application to Harborough District Council points out that DHL Supply Chain operates four separate distribution facilities at Magna Park, employing some 700 people. “DHL Supply Chain’s preference is to meet its expansion needs at Magna Park…”

However, there is not enough expansion land within the park. The site proposed for DHL totals 55.41 ha,  The proposal is for the erection of 100,844sqm storage and distribution centre at Mere Lane, Bittesby, including formation of access road from Magna Park, erection of gatehouse, creation of roundabouts, partial realignment of Mere Lane and upgrading of A5 to dual carriageway.

The development is expected to create 1,230 full time equivalent jobs.

Gazeley also recently submitted a planning application for a 17,180 sq m speculative warehouse at Magna Park.
