Maritime expands truck fleet

Maritime Transport, has taken delivery of 70 DAF XF 460 FTG Super Space Cabs with 50 more to follow by the end of September.

The trucks include additions and replacements, and take DAF’s presence in the Maritime fleet to around 20 per cent in a fleet totalling over 1,000 trucks.

DAF said the initial batch of Euro-6 XFs are returning improved fuel figures over their Euro-5 counterparts and, with DAF’s new Predictive Cruise Control specified on 70 units, Maritime is hoping for even greater returns.

“DAF is forecasting even better fuel economy from its predictive Cruise Control, and we’re looking forward to seeing that translate into real-time operations,” said Fleet Engineer, Stuart Wardlaw, “encouragingly the latest XFs are outperforming their Euro-5 stable-mates at the fuel pumps.”
