Office supplies wholesaler VOW has signed two contracts with Gist, extending the two companies longstanding relationship.
Gist already operates a daily time-sensitive delivery service from VOW’s national distribution centre in Lutterworth to its national network of regional distribution centres.
The new contracts will see Gist covering radial distribution of products to customers across the Midlands and the provision of a national warehousing and delivery operation for business furniture.
Gist worked with the company to centralise the business furniture operation into its shared user site at Tamworth from two existing VOW warehouses over a three month period, while maintaining customer service levels.
The delivery of products to customers also involved the transfer of an existing VOW site, including the TUPE transfer of staff and resources.
Customers expect short order lead times and typically stock arrives at Tamworth between midnight and 2am, with the first outbound vans leaving at 1am.
Gist has also helped VOW improve fleet utilisation by deploying routeing and scheduling software tool from companies such as Paragon.
Frans van de Schootbrugge, group operations director of VOW parent company Vasanta Group, said: “We have worked with Gist for some years now and know that they can deliver both value to our operations, and the high levels of customer service that we require.”
Martin Gwynn, CEO of Gist, added: “Gist is delighted to be working more closely with VOW. Our expertise in both design and operational on-the-ground logistics means we can provide both the strategic and practical solutions for VOW that best suit their needs.”
