Matrix and thermal printer manufacturer Dascom has launched in the UK.
The Basingstoke-based Dascom GB – a subsidiary of Dascom Europe – acquired key assets from the TallyGenicom AG product ranges, following the latter’s collapse earlier this year.
As a result, The UK office will market the full range of existing TallyGenicom serial dot matrix printers under the Tally brand, while the thermal printer range, and new matrix models will come under the TallyDascom brand.
The former TallyGenicom line matrix and laser printer models will continue to be distributed by Dascom GB through its sales operations.
Dascom managing director Robin Edwardes, former executive vice president EMEA at TallyGenicom, will head the UK team, and has set out an aggressive growth strategy, which involves tripling the company’s thermal printer range offering by this time next year.
Dascom GB will support the UK, Irish, Scandinavian, Benelux, and MEA markets, and also provides printers for bespoke applications, and work with legacy operating systems such as UNIX, IBM and Compaq/DEC.
Edwardes said: “This approach enables Dascom to provide printing solutions without the need to sacrifice capital outlay on often expensive software upgrades. Organisations in the current climate are cautious of undertaking expensive software upgrades to justify hardware spend. It is important that we are able to provide the market with modern solutions that are interoperable with legacy technologies.”
