Michael Proffitt has joined BiS Henderson as a strategic advisor focusing on knowledge based supply chain recruitment. Proffitt was previously chief executive of Dubai Logistics City and a member of the Management Board of Dubai World Central – the new airport city which is being developed in Dubai.
He is now acting as an independent strategic advisor to a number of companies in Mexico, India, the United Arab Emirates and in Europe, including BiS Henderson.
He said: “If you understand world leading supply chain techniques you can properly asses the clients requirements and candidate’s capabilities. However, without that in-depth knowledge how can you profess to add value to a client’s business – after all knowledge is power”.
“BiS Henderson has the ability to deliver across both the permanent and interim sectors and I will be working with Andy Kaye and Mark Botham to ensure that we are the logical alternative to the city generalists and capitalise on the core values that the newly merged company brings together. BiS Henderson has sensibly taken the time to develop its strategy over the last 10months before bringing its strategic intent to the market. I am delighted to be at the forefront of this exciting development.”
Proffitt is a director of the Supply Chain and Logistics Group in Dubai, a member of the Cranfield Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Advisory Board and a member of the Asia Pacific Supply Chain Advisory Board.
He has more 25 years experience within supply chain/logistics. After gaining his MBA from Cranfield Proffitt joined the Ocean Group as a member of the executive committee staff and held various management positions before becoming chief executive of McGregor Cory. In 1992 he joined Hays plc as a main board director with responsibility for logistics and in 1996 he joined Danzas at their head office in Basel becoming executive director of logistics and a member of the board of management. Following the acquisition of Danzas by Deutsche Post Proffitt held a number of senior management positions before leaving to take up the role Dubai Logistics City.
