PD Ports reckons it has helped Asda save 1,265,459 road miles through the Ports Logical Link shipping service which launched in January 2009.
Logical Link is a coastal feeder container shipping service providing a next day connection between Felixstowe and Teesport. It operates three sailings a week, (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) loading in Felixstowe on day one and unloading in Teesport the following morning.
PD Ports says that by using the service, Asda, which opened the first portcentric import centre at Teesport in 2006, has reduced the number of Asda trucks on the road network cutting both supply chain costs and carbon dioxide emissions.
