A competitive purchase price and a guaranteed buy-back pledge has helped Mercedes-Benz dealer Orwell Truck & Van to get a long-coveted foothold in the fleet of Hewicks Haulage.

The Bury St Edmunds-based operator has taken a six by two Actros 2546 tractor unit with MegaSpace cab and 12-speed Mercedes Powershift automated transmission.
It is now delivering trailers which arrive by ferry at Harwich and other ports to destinations across the UK.
Hewicks runs 15 tractor units. Five more are on the same ex-port trailer work while the remainder haul bulk liquid animal feed in road tanks for sister company Cave Liquid Haulage.
Hewicks director Carl Brinkley said: “The up-front price, combined with the guaranteed buy-back arrangement to which Orwell have committed themselves, added up to a highly competitive package. But we had also to be happy that the truck would perform efficiently and productively. A two-week trial of the dealer’s demonstration unit was all it took to put minds at ease and convince us that it represented a good deal.”
