Partner Logistics has opened a 220,660 sq ft coldstore facility in Wisbech, Cambridgshire, which it says is the UK’s largest.
The warehouse was developed for potato processor Lamb Weston Meijer, which has taken the majority of the site, but it is also being used by Birds Eye and Belgian frozen foods specialist Pinguin.
The £42 million facility has a floorspan of 175m by 88m and rises to 36m. It can store up to 77,000 pallets of frozen food at temperatures of minus 27 degrees centigrade.
Partner Logistics now operates 13 fully automated warehouses in Europe and Russia.
