Zara’s entry into online sales has been “satisfactory”, according to parent group Inditex.
Zara only began to sell its products online at the beginning of September. At the moment the service is available in six European countries: France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and UK.
Inditex said there had been “a satisfactory customers’ reception”.
Zara plans to launch online selling in Austria, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg during the second half of 2010, extending the platform to US, Canada, South Korea and Japan next yeear.
The Inditex Group’s net sales in the first half of 2010 – from 1 February to 31 July – totalled 5.5 billion euros, 14 per cent up on 2009. EBITDA rose by 45 per cent to 1.2bn euros.
