Local councillors in South Gloucestershire are looking to ban a warehouse in Yate in an effort to reduce the number of lorries on local roads.
A motion has been put forward requesting the council to “rescind the element of planning consent which permits the premises being used as a distribution centre” when Morrisons vacate its Armstrong Way depot in Yate later this year.
In addition the local councillors are promoting that this course of action is followed for other distribution depots in the Yate area when it becomes evident that the premises are due to be vacated.
Local villages have been campaigning to ban lorries from the vicinity for some time following reports of near misses, subsidence and concern for schoolchildren walking to school.
