MAN Truck & Bus intends to invest 25 million euros in Russian vehicle production.
It plans to start making some 6,000 vehicles per year in St Petersburg for its target markets in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
St Petersburg has pledged to ensure the supply of power, water and gas to the plant and to support the improvement and maintenance of the access roads to the new MAN plant.
Lars Himmer, managing director of MAN Truck & Bus in Russia said: “It is above all the advantageous infrastructure conditions that speak in favour of St. Petersburg. We will probably build our production line in existing premises – that will save us long construction and start-up times.”
