Airworld Services is expanding operations at Heathrow, taking 110,000 sq ft at X2, Segro’s two storey warehouse.
The airside logistics and storage company has agreed a ten year lease on units 1 to 4 at X2 which allows full lorry access and loading on both levels. Airworld will increase its space within the development by around 25 per cent as a result of the deal.
Airworld chairman Gwyn Powell said: “Airworld is delighted with the success that has come with the transfer to X2 in 2009. The new lease incorporating all 4 ground units at the ‘on airport’ high tech facility enables Airworld to offer world class services from the prominent location.”
Simon Lanyon of Segro, said: “The volume of cargo handled by the airport is currently as high as it has ever been, and we anticipate that this will translate into good demand at Heathrow as cargo users seek additional space.
“At X2, we are already witnessing increased enquiries related to the second level of the development, which comprises four units ranging in size from 27,000 to 125,000 sq ft.”
