Great Bear, the third party logistics service provider, has appointed Paul Goodson chairman in succession to Jim Lockhart, who is retiring after having served as chairman since the business was founded in 1994.
Goodson spent nine years with listed private equity firm 3i Group plc and thirteen with Barclays Private Equity, from where he retired in November 2011.
David Williams, Great Bear’s managing director, said: “The board welcomes Paul and has no doubt that his experience with mid-sized private companies will continue to support Great Bear’s organic growth and future plans.”
Prior to taking on the role at Great Bear, Lockhart spent many years as a director of Transport Development Group, which is now part of Norbert Dentressangle.
Williams said: “I would like to thank Jim for his loyal service over the past 17 years. Throughout that time, he has made a significant contribution to the board and the sustained growth of the business that he has overseen means that he can hand the baton on to Paul with Great Bear as a market-leading and successful company.”
