McDonalds is investing £1 million in the first year of a programme to support its meat supply chain in Britain and Ireland.

The Farm Forward programme will cover quality of ingredients; animal welfare standards; creating work and training opportunities for young farmers; environmental and efficiency standards; and knowledge sharing.

It will commence with three projects, including training for young farmers, a free carbon calculator, and funding of new research to make the meat supply chain for its restaurants more sustainable.
