Pall-Ex reckons its Transport and Warehouse Information Network Environment (TWINE) has made saving for its members, including a saving of £20,000 in labour costs for one member.
The system was launched in April 2011 and allows members and customers to manage their own shipments as well as Pall-Ex consignments in real-time. All drivers have been equipped with Motorola ES400 PDA devices to scan consignments at delivery. Proof of delivery data is then transmitted in real-time to TWINE using 3G mobile technology.
IT director Sean Sherwin-Smith, said: “This scan data compliments the already detailed depot and hub location scanning, helping to avoid discrepancies, boost efficiency and provide complete transparency of a consignment’s journey through the network as it happens.”
