A sign warning road users to stay back from turning large vehicles has been designed since it emerged that 20 per cent of cycle accidents in the capital involving Heavy Goods Vehicles.

Huw Gwilliam submitted his winning design to a road safety competition, run by InTANDEM, and supported by the Freight transport Association and How’s My Driving?
FTA’s managing director of policy and communications, James Hookham, said: “Many companies already have their own cycling safety messages on their vehicles and we hope over time that this design will come to be recognised by cyclists everywhere as an aid to their safety.”
Gwilliam said: “I felt that a high-profile safety campaign such as this should feel authoritative, solid and lasting. I have attempted to capture the gravity of this campaign’s important message in this design.”
