Willie Walsh, chief executive of International Airlines Group, parent company of British Airways and Iberia, is the 2012 winner of the Sir Robert Lawrence Award for 2012.
The award is presented by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK to an individual judged to have made a major contribution to logistics and transport over a sustained period and, in doing so, to have raised the sector’s status and recognition.
Willie Walsh joined British Airways as chief executive in October 2005 and led it into the merger with Iberia to form International Airlines Group in January 2011.
Walsh said: “I am absolutely delighted to accept the Sir Robert Lawrence award, as a Fellow of the Institute for many years, this comes as a true honour.”
