Morrisons has renewed its contract with Norbert Dentressangle for two years following a competitive tender.
Dentressangle manages a 575,000 sq ft composite distribution centre at Bellshill in Scotland along with Eurocentral, an 85,000 sq ft fresh produce distribution centre, serving stores throughout Scotland.
It is responsible for the management and handling of all products covering ambient groceries, bread, fresh prepared and frozen products and fresh produce.

Chris Noone, distribution director for Morrisons said: “We are pleased to be able to extend the commercial arrangements for a further two years and feel confident that Norbert Dentressangle will continue to provide good value for money. They have been able to demonstrate that we can continue to receive excellent service levels and measurable cost savings, as well as working with us in a strategic capacity as we continue to evolve our supply chain to further underpin our core values of freshness, value and service.”
Through its acquisition of Christian Salvesen, Dentressangle has operated the Bellshill DC since it opened in 1989, initially for Safeway – which was taken over by Morrisons in 2004.
There is also a road-going fleet which serves Scottish stores and supplies frozen products to a number of stores in the North of England.
