The Freight Transport Ireland has welcomed a plan by the Irish government for a 7.5 cent per litre rebate on the price of diesel fuel.
The Minister for Finance revealed that the rebate on diesel is set to take effect from the 1 July 2013 and will apply to tax compliant licensed hauliers and will be strictly policed so as to ensure that the all beneficiaries are fully tax compliant.
Declan McKeon of the FTA Ireland said: “FTAI believes that this is a step in the right direction, and welcomes initiatives like this which will encourage growth, particularly in view of the current difficult financial climate.”
