Paul Wardle has been appointed as general manager of The Co-operative’s new £22m food distribution depot in north Derbyshire.
Wardle will head the new 477,000 sq ft facility in Castlewood, which will employ 1,060 people and create around 320 new jobs when it opens in March.
The 42-year-old, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, started his career in logistics and supply chain operations at Armitage Shanks/Ideal Standard, before being appointed as general manager at Wincanton, where he has spent the last 10 years.
Mark Leonard, head of supply chain logistics at The Co-operative Food, said: “We are delighted to welcome someone of Paul’s calibre to the team as he will play a crucial role in spearheading our new state-of-the-art facility.”
