Peel Ports has put a bigger vessel on its Manchester Ship Canal container service to meet an increase in demand from customers who include Kellogg, Princes Foods and Kingsland Wine.
The Coastal Deniz has a 260 TEU capacity – 60 per cent more than the old vessel.
It will make up to four sailings a week between the Liverpool’s Seaforth container terminal and Irlam Container Terminal near Trafford Park in Manchester. It is expected to move about 20,000 containers this year.
