Action For Children’s Big Egg Hunt 2013 has named FedEx as its official carrier, to transport 101 oversized eggs, created by leading artists and designers, to five city locations across the UK.
FedEx is using one of its 30 new 13.6m long, 4.88m high double decker articulated lorries, and an 18 tonne truck to transport the unusual cargo. The eggs will cover 2,500 km in total, between Covent Garden, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow, before returning to London.
Using a smaller FedEx branded egg to raise money for the charity internally, the firm will send the egg from depot to depot for staff to guess the mileage, once its journey is complete.
